The Italian dive team on Koh Tao, on the quiet south coast.
Carabao Diving is a long-running SSI dive resort in Chalok Baan Kao, on Koh Tao's quieter south coast. It has been going strong for more than twenty years, which on an island of fast-changing dive shops says a lot about how it treats its divers.
The full SSI path runs here, from a first Try Dive for total beginners, through Open Water and Advanced certifications, all the way to professional levels. Fun dives head out to Koh Tao's best-known sites, the granite pinnacles, the turtle and reef bays and, in season, whale shark territory.
Groups are kept small, so you get real attention in the water. And because it's a resort, not just a shop, everything sits on one beachfront: dive centre, rooms, restaurant, bar and pool. You can wake up, dive, eat and sleep without ever really leaving.
Carabao is the only dive centre on the island with an Italian team, which makes it the go-to reference for learning to dive in Italian on Koh Tao. Around that core sits a genuinely international team, so courses run comfortably in Italian, French, Spanish, English, German and Thai, whatever language you'd rather have your first breath underwater explained in.
It's in Chalok Baan Kao on the south coast, the calmer, more laid-back end of Koh Tao, a short ride from the Mae Haad pier. You can plan your dives and rooms at carabaodivingkohtao.com.
