Sunrise yoga on a hilltop above Chalok Bay, then coffee with the best view on the island.
High the Moon is a café on a hilltop in the south of Koh Tao, with one of the most breathtaking views on the island, straight down over Chalok Bay and out to sea. In collaboration with Blue Chitta, it is also the island's most beautiful place to do yoga at sunrise.
Every morning at 6:30, a Blue Chitta teacher leads a gentle sunrise flow that blends breath (pranayama) and movement to wake up the body, while the light comes up over the Gulf of Thailand. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early to settle in. Mats are provided.
Sunrise yoga at High the Moon must be booked the day before: pay online before 6 pm, or in cash at the Blue Chitta reception in Mae Haad by 6 pm. Classes are confirmed (or cancelled, for example in bad weather) in the Blue Chitta WhatsApp group by 6 pm the day before. On Wednesdays there is a shared taxi from Blue Chitta at 6 am, back at 8:15; on other days you make your own way up.
The space can also be booked for a private yoga class, a healing session or a photoshoot with the view as a backdrop: ideal for a special occasion or a couple's morning.
High the Moon is on the hill above Chalok, in the south of Koh Tao. The road up is steep, so if you don't ride a scooter confidently, take the Wednesday shared taxi from Blue Chitta or book a taxi.
