Sports bar & grill · Sairee
The island's sports-and-live-music bar, in the middle of Sairee.
Choppers is Koh Tao's best-known sports bar, a two-storey, Australian-owned institution smack in the middle of Sairee. If there's a game on anywhere in the world, there's a good chance it's showing here, and if there isn't, there's probably a band playing instead.
Both floors are lined with TVs and big screens carrying every Premier League match, plus F1, UFC, rugby and the rest of the calendar. Choppers also bills itself as Koh Tao's first live-music venue, with a rotating line-up of local bands, soloists and visiting artists playing most nights, usually from around 9pm.
It's a genuine social anchor for the island. Regular fixtures include open-mic Jam Jar nights, the Friday pub quiz and the long-running Koh Tao Pub Crawl, which gathers here before working its way around Sairee. Come for the football, stay for the people.
Food comes out of Choppers' own GrubHouse kitchen, for dine-in or delivery. The regulars swear by the smashed burgers and the chicken parmi, and there's a generous run of Thai plates if you'd rather eat local. It's proper pub food, built for a long evening.
Choppers sits in the middle of Sairee, Koh Tao's main beach strip, a short walk from wherever you're staying in the north of the island. See what's on at chopperskohtao.com.
