Scuba Shack is a PADI 5-Star IDC dive centre sitting right on the sand at the quiet north end of Sairee Beach. Open since 2014, it has become one of Koh Tao's best-loved shops for learning to dive, thanks to a simple formula: small groups, patient instructors and a genuinely personal approach to the water.

The full PADI ladder is here, from a first Discover Scuba Diving experience for total beginners, through the Open Water and Advanced Open Water certifications, up to professional ratings like Divemaster and IDC Staff Instructor. Already certified? Their fun dives take you out to Koh Tao's best sites, the granite pinnacles, turtle bays and, in season, whale shark territory.

What keeps divers coming back is the scale of it. Courses are capped at four students per instructor, so you get real attention in the water and the reef gets a lighter footprint. It's an international team too, teaching in seven languages, which makes it an easy, comfortable place to start whatever your first language is.
